All gas fields and wells In Uzbekistan will be digitized, the chairman of Uzbekneftegaz Bakhodirjon Sidiqov said. “Today, natural gas is considered the backbone of our energy system, because electricity is mainly produced from gas. Therefore, the sector is aiming to sharply increase the gas production. Therefore, the issue of digitalization was raised,” he told Uzbekistan 24.
According to him, work has already begun on the digitalization of gas fields and wells, which are planned to be completed before the year-end.
Sidiqov did not indicate what kind of work is planned to be carried out as part of digitalization.
Earlier on May 12, the president signed a resolution according to which a unified automated gas movement system will be introduced in Uzbekistan. He instructed to complete the installation of electronic meters and chromatographs before July 1 at all gas receiving and supply points of the Uzbekneftegaz and Uztransgaz and integrate them with the database of the tax authorities. However, these requirements do not apply to private companies. In addition, a system will be created to collect information on contracts for gas and oil.
In Q1 of the year, gas production in Uzbekistan fell by 9.6% compared to the same period last year, in March the drop was at 12.9%. The volume of electricity production decreased by 5% three consecutive months, while heat and coal production also declined.
