President Mirziyoyev signed the Measures to introduce a system of green energy certificates Decree on Tuesday. In line with the document, a system of "green energy" certificates, confirming the generation of electricity using renewable energy sources, is to be gradually introduced:
- from July 1, 2023 - for electricity generated at hydroelectric power plants of Uzbekhydroenergo;
- from October 1, 2023 - for electricity generated by solar, wind and hydroelectric power plants.
One green energy certificate confirms the generation of 1,000 kWh of electricity. The Green Energy certificate system is to be overseen by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The income of generating facilities received from the sale of green energy certificates based on the use of renewable energy sources is exempt from income tax.
