President Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on May 15, the presidential press service said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the Turkish leader on the successful holding of the presidential and parliamentary elections, as a result of which “the incumbent president of the country and the Republican Alliance won the majority of votes”.
Reportedly, he highlighted that the voting results testified to the broad support of the fraternal Turkish people for the course of political reforms and economic reforms of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
During the conversation, the parties also considered the ways to strengthening the Uzbek-Turkish strategic partnership and multifaceted ties.
The importance of continuing active work on preparing the agenda for the next meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council was noted.
After of the vote count from 99.31% of the ballot boxes throughout Turkiye, the votes among the presidential candidates were distributed as follows: Recep Tayyip Erdoğan - 49.41%, his main rival Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu - 44.96%, Sinan Oğan - 5.20% . These results will take elections to the second round between two candidates.
