On May 12, the Political Council of the Liberal Democratic Party (UzLiDeP) approved the candidacy of Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the early presidential elections on July 9, the press service of the party said.
It was stated at the meeting that under the leadership of the incumbent, who was also nominated by UzLiDeP in 2016 and 2021, a lot of progress had been achieved in various areas over the past few years.
“The future of the country, the demands of the ever changing world impose on UzLiDeP the responsibility of nominating as a candidate for the upcoming elections a person who is able to ensure a firm and consistent progress along the path of current reforms, to continue the implementation of such a complex task as reforming society to a new level,” the party’s statement says.
To date, the names of presidential candidates have been named by all parties.
The Ecological Party nominated its leader Abdushukur Khamzaev, the People's Democratic Party - Ulugbek Inoyatov, the Adolat Social Democratic Party - Robakhon Makhmudova, while Milliy Tiklanish Party backed the candidacy of Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
