Over 630,000 Uzbeks left for Russia for jobs in the first 3 months of 2023. Nearly 1.3 million foreigners in search of jobs entered Russia in Q1 of 2023. Almost half of them are Uzbeks. This was reported by the Russian state statistics portal.

Reportedly, top countries whose citizens who chose Russia as destination for job in January-March were:

- Uzbekistan - 630,859 people;

- Tajikistan – 349,357;

- Kyrgyzstan – 172,591;

- Armenia – 47,337;

- Kazakhstan – 34,783;

- Azerbaijan – 28,690;

- China - 10,528.

During 2022, about 3.5 million foreign citizens came to work in Russia, while in 2021, when the coronavirus restrictions were in effect, this figure was 2.6 million.

In 2022, almost all Central Asian countries were at the top of the list: Uzbekistan - more than 1.45 million, Tajikistan - almost 987 thousand, Kyrgyzstan - more than 562 thousand and Kazakhstan - about 164 thousand.
