Today, on May 5, Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov, who arrived in Tashkent to attend the next meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission.

According to the press service of the head of state, the parties discussed the ways to further advance the Uzbek-Kazakh strategic partnership and alliance ties and to expand the multifaceted cooperation were considered.

During the meeting, they commended the dynamic development of bilateral relations. In 2022, two-way trade increased by 18 percent, and by 12 percent year-to-date. There are more than 3 thousand joint ventures. The volume of cargo transportation is increasing.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev highly valued the outcomes of the meeting of the commission, first of all, the agreements reached on priority economic projects, including the creation of an international center for industrial cooperation.

The sides also focused on increasing trade and balancing the export-import transactions in order to achieve the target of $10 billion in the coming years. For these purposes, the importance of launching the activities of a foreign trade company as soon as possible was highlighted.

While they also touched upon expanding of the portfolio of investment projects in mechanical engineering, energy, mining, transport and logistics, textile, food and other.
