Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Additional measures to boost the tourism potential of the Republic, as well as to further increase the flow of local and foreign tourists Resolution.
According to the document, the head of state instructed to establish a procedure according to which, from May 1, 2023:
- until July 1, 2024, on a trial basis, the 20 % of the VAT value shown on invoices issued to foreign partners for travel packages (covering accommodation services, road or rail transport, excursion services and meals) for the provision of services to 5 or more non-residents by business entities providing tour operator services shall be returned to these entities from the republican budget in the form of a subsidy;
- until May 1, 2026, local tour firms, business entities providing accommodation or transportation services of passengers by road, when importing into the territory of Uzbekistan vehicles used in their passenger transportation activities and having ten or more seats, including driver's seat, as well as from the date of issue of which no more than 5 years have passed (HS codes 8702 10, 8702 40, 8702 90) shall be entitled to pay value added tax in installments within 12 months without interest and the requirement to ensure their payment.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Central Bank, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, together with the relevant ministries and departments, were instructed to ensure the timely implementation of the procedure provided for in the Resolution.
