Financial model of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project will be approved during the visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan to Beijing on May 17-19. The project’s estimated cost is at US$ 3-5 billion.
Akylbek Zhaparov, Chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers, announced this at a joint meeting of the Ata Zhurt Kyrgyzstan parliamentary faction and the Mekenchil deputy group, 24.kg said.
According to him, the feasibility study of the project is ready, adaptation work is underway.
“As you know, there will be a narrow railway to Kazarman, then a wide one, it will be connected to the Uzbek section of the railway. The cost of the project is estimated at US$ 3-5 billion, with 57 tunnels to be built on the territory of Kyrgyzstan alone,” said Akylbek Zhaparov.
Recently Akylbek Japarov, as part of a working visit to the capital of Uzbekistan, attended the second Tashkent International Investment Forum.
During his remarks, he said that “the implementation of the strategic China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project will take our region out of the transport impasse, better connect about 4 billion people, expand the geography of transportation from Asia through Turkey to Europe, to the region Middle East, Iran, Gulf countries and North Africa.
