The Prosecutor General's Office is probing into the incident of presumably teachers being beaten in an Uzun district school of Surkhandarya province, the Office’s spokesman Khayot Shamsutdinov said.
On Tuesday, a footage showing two men and seven women holding a meeting surfaced on social media. A man in a blue cap throws a book at a woman in a white headscarf, then walks up to her and punches her in the face, causing her to fall.
Another man takes the attacker out of the room, the woman is helped to stand up. The first man comes back and hits another teacher hard in the face, who also falls on her back. Then he heads towards the first victim and hits her on the head again.
He is taken out of the room again, but returns, yells at the woman, and hits and kicks her again, causing her to fall to the floor.
The voice-over says that the man stopped beating women after he was informed about the presence of a camera in the room.
The press service of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education reported that Khusniddin Mamadiev, head of the preschool and school education department of the Surkhandarya province, went to Uzun district to investigate the situation.
Later, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reported that the incident occurred on April 14 at about 12:00. A 34-year-old teacher inflicted injuries on two teachers during a meeting in the principal's office.
On April 18, after the video appeared, a criminal case was launched under Article 277 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism). The suspect was detained in a procedural order. The investigation is ongoing.
