15-year-old girl was gang-raped by 11 or 12 men in Khorezm’s Yangiaryk district. The victim's aunt told Gazeta.uz on condition of anonymity.

According to her, on July 23, an 11th grade student had sexual intercourse with a girl, 16, and recorded it on video. He then blackmailed her by spreading the recording on social media.

“They were friends with each other. They went out for a walk in the evening, he took her phone, and did not give it back. Then ру dragged into the house, raped and put her out. It turned out that his friend filmed it. The next day at school, they threatened to distribute the video in various channels and show the recording to parents. The guy said that if she came out in the evening, he would delete the video in front of her. She agreed. In the evening, he said that he was deleting the video, she approached him, and he grabbed her and dragged her into the garden next to her house, where other guys were already waiting,” she said.

The woman claims that her niece was raped every 2-3 days for 20 days. When the situation became known, on August 13, the relatives filed a complaint to the Yangyaryk district police department.

“There were 11-12 guys. Some of them are married. One boy was in the 11th grade, the rest were men up to about 30 years old. There is even a distant relative of the girl, the husband of her aunt's daughter... We first turned to the Yangyaryk district police department. Everywhere they don't give a damn, it was like they didn't care. They are putting red tape for 8-9 months. They said that the examination was not ready, although we did it ourselves. They did not want to take expertise from the scene. All the evidence was there, both on the ground and on the blanket,” she said.

The victim's aunt said that on the same day (August 13), the relatives applied to the district prosecutor's office, then to the prosecutor's office of the Khorezm province, and then to the Urgench district police department. “We also called the 1000 (people's reception of the president - ed.) hotline. Silence,” she said.

“In the Yangyaryk district police department, everyone seems to know each other. When we were on the street, these guys communicated with the investigators absolutely calmly, smiling. We say: “How so?" And they didn't care. We filed a complaint to the Yangiaryk prosecutor's office. Prosecutor, I think his name is Gairat. He says: “Why do you need this shame? Why do you want to apply? This girl will be stained for life. She's getting married tomorrow." And we say: “If we keep silent, what next? These criminals will continue to do this with impunity? Is this often practiced? the woman said.

The victim's aunt claims that in the Yangiaryk district "such cases are not uncommon, just not everyone applies."

According to her, the criminal case was launched, but then suspended for 5.5 months. However, the applicants were not provided with copies of the documents in the case.

The case was resumed on April 4 after the arrival of the children's Ombudsman Aliya Yunusova in the district. On the same day it became known about the arrest of three suspects.

“We learned yesterday that the case had been suspended. Why had it been suspended? They say that they were waiting for the examination, [the suspects] would not give away each other... After the arrival of Aliya Yunusova, the investigators started calling us, although before that they had not answered us. When we went to them, we were told that they were not at their workplaces. When the children's ombudsman arrived, they told us that they had caught three suspects, and they were looking for the fourth, ”she said.

The woman claims that the examination revealed the possible involvement of only 3-4 suspects.

“Yesterday, in the presence of the children’s ombudsman, the prosecutor told us: “Why did your girl go out into the street in the evening?” And where is it seen that if a girl went out into the street in the evening, she can be raped? Is it that girls can’t go out in the evening?” - said the aunt of the victim.

She also said that the girl had to be transferred to another school in another district, as she was “forced to do so” by the administration of the previous school.
