Today, the Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court reviewed the cassation protest of the Khorezm province prosecutor's office against the sentence of the former heads of the department of justice of the province, Aibek Masharipov and the Yangiaryk district department for emergency situations, Anvar Kuryazov, who were convicted of having sexual intercourse with pupils of an Urgench orphanage.
According to the press service of the Supreme Court, the decision of the appellate instance of the Khorezm provinceal court on criminal cases of December 27 against two former officials was cancelled. The case must be retried by the Court of Appeal.
As reported earlier, the court of appeal on December 27 upheld the decision of the court of first instance (Khivansky district court), which in September last year handed both men 1.5 years of house arrest.
The director of the orphanage, Yulduz Khudaibergenova, was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison.
The crimes became known almost seven months later, after the publication by the Nemolchi.uz project against violence.
