Common integrator for creation and support of state information systems (Uzinfocom) has coordinated the creation of a DNS K-root in Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Digital Technologies said.

The integrator held negotiations with the regional domain registrar RIPE NCC on Firday at the UADay event in Yerevan.

Reportedly, currently all requests from users of local sites are first sent to foreign DNS servers. This takes a certain amount of time and complicates the data processing.

Now, thanks to the presence of the K-Root server in Uzbekistan, the search process and the Internet speed will significantly improve. Reducing dependence on external DNS hosts and Internet channels will enhance availability.

The Ministry added that this event will make a great contribution to the development of the national Internet infrastructure, which, in turn, should significantly increase its fault tolerance and stability.

Uzinfocom noted that the project will also enhance "the geographical distribution of the critical infrastructure of the global DNS and its resistance to increased loads, such as DDoS attacks."

RIPE network coordination center operates a group of K-Root servers (k.root-servers.net), which is part of a circle of 13 root Internet DNS servers. These servers respond to requests from other DNS servers when translating domain names into IP addresses and allow you to get a list of DNS servers for all top-level domains, including national ones.
