Meeting of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Uzbekistan took place today and reviewed the next issues on the preparation and holding of a referendum in the country.

According to the press service of the CEC, in line with articles 16 and 18 of the Referendum of the Republic of Uzbekistan Law, article 16 of the Electoral Code, the Regulation on formation of referendum precincts and precinct commissions for holding a referendum at diplomatic and other representative offices in foreign states, approved by a resolution of the CEC dated July 13, 2022, referendum polling stations at diplomatic and other representative offices of the Republic of Uzbekistan in foreign states are being set up in accordance with the presentation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the meeting, was made a decision to create 55 referendum sites at the diplomatic and other representations of Uzbekistan in foreign countries, with the 14th Tashkent city referendum district assigned to them.

While, a decision was made to accredit observers from the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE/ODIHR) to attend the referendum as observers.

The meeting also considered the issue of accreditation of representatives of a number of local mass media.
