The parties also underscored the "positive contribution of the Collective Security Treaty Organization to ensuring regional security" and the potential for developing cooperation between the CSTO and China "in order to ensure peace and stability in the region."

In a joint statement of the two countries in early February 2022, when Vladimir Putin visited Beijing, it was said that China and Russia opposed "the actions of external forces to undermine security and stability in common adjacent regions", and also "intend to resist the intervention of external forces under what any pretext into the internal affairs of sovereign countries, oppose the "color revolutions" and will increase cooperation in the above-mentioned areas.
