Turkey rightfully occupies a leading position among countries with developed medical technologies. Therefore, it is not surprising that about 13 thousand of our citizens go there from Kazakhstan for treatment every year. Does this mean that if you have health problems, you should immediately dismiss the option of treatment in Kazakhstan and choose a Turkish clinic?

Maria Chabdaeva, head of Experts Medical, a service for selecting a doctor and a clinic abroad, expresses her opinion: “Recently, the medical community of Kazakhstan has been closely cooperating with Turkish doctors. There is an exchange of experience and modern methods of treatment. We can say that Kazakhstan in this matter is reaching a fundamentally new level.

So a health trip to Turkey is not always necessary. In many cases, Kazakh specialists will do just as well. However, there are problems that cannot be solved by Kazakh doctors yet, or the quality of Turkish medicine still differs significantly.

This applies to complex or rare diseases that require the most progressive approach: cancer, cerebral palsy, cardiovascular pathologies, oncology, and so on. Then treatment in Turkey is the best option.”

Turkey & Kazakhstan: what's the difference?

Diagnostics. If at home they can’t make a correct diagnosis or find an effective treatment for you, the best option is to get diagnosed in Turkey. The most modern types of diagnostics are used here, from molecular genetic research to PET.

And the point is not even that there are not enough experienced diagnosticians in Kazakhstan, but that they do not always have access to modern equipment for examination and sufficient experience. And even if there is the necessary equipment, it is very small.

For example, we have only 3 PET-CT machines in the whole country. And in Turkey - 93. If you need to get an examination as early as possible (for example, if the disease develops quickly), then Turkey is the best option.

Treatment. The same modern technologies allow Turkish doctors to cope with complex diseases much more effectively than in Kazakhstan. It's no secret that in Kazakhstan the 5-year survival rate for cancer is 20-30% lower than in developed countries - largely due to the inaccessibility of new types of drugs and methods.

The same situation is with IVF: in our country, the success of the procedure is achieved only in 42% of cases. And in Turkey - 68%. The standard for operations in Turkey is organ-preserving, minimally invasive interventions. That is, instead of removing the organ, doctors try to save it to the last.

For example, cancer treatment in Turkey involves the use of methods that are not only effective, but also have a minimum of side effects. That is why half of those who come to Turkish clinics are people who came for cancer treatment in Turkey.

Service. Even the standard treatment option (without VIP-chamber and premium service) is much more comfortable in Turkey than in Kazakhstan. Since the arrival is agreed in advance, the patient does not stand in queues for an appointment, he receives medical care exactly in the amount specified in the contract.

For patients in Turkey, all-inclusive packages are often offered. It includes not only the cost of treatment, but also accommodation and meals at the hotel, and so on. That is, having paid once, you will not have to pay anything extra during your stay in the clinic. You don't have to worry about housing or travel.

Prices. There is a stereotype that treatment in Turkey is always more expensive than in Kazakhstan. However, this is not always true. For example, the prices for such popular plastic surgery in Turkey are in some cases even lower than ours. If we compare with the prices in German South Korean or Israeli clinics, then in Turkey, as a rule, it is cheaper by 20-50%.

Do you need complex treatment for your child? Some services that help organize treatment in Turkey (for example, Experts Medical) cooperate with charitable foundations that partially cover the cost of treatment.

Choosing a place of treatment is not only a matter of convenience, money or taste. It's also a matter of your health. Therefore, it must be taken very seriously.
