Two gas turbine units are being erected at the Tashkent Thermal Electric Power Center (Tashkent IEM). After the project is completed, the Power Center will generate an additional 515.6 million kWh and 690.3 thousand Gcal of thermal energy per year.

Construction of two gas turbine units with a capacity of 32 MW each is underway at the Tashkent Thermal Power Center. The project being erected by the Turkish company Çalık Enerji is scheduled to be commissioned by 2024.

"At the moment, the foundation works have been completed. The construction and installation of the 2nd floor of the main operator's building is underway. The new gas turbine equipment will be supplied by a Japanese company. It is energy efficient, burns less gas and emits less harmful substances into the atmosphere. As a result of the launch of our project, 219,000 cubic meters of natural gas will be saved," says Saidkomil Saidmurodov, engineer at Tashkent IEM.

The project is in pursuance of the President's Measures to rapidly develop the electric power industry and ensure financial stability Decree dd. October 23, 2018 and "On measures to implement the investment program of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2020-2022 Decree dd. January 9, 2020.
