From April 1, Uzbekistan will launch the Solar House program to stimulate the installation of low-power solar panels (total power up to 50 kW) in households in the provinces. This is stipulated by the Feb. 16 presidential decree on accelerating the introduction of renewable energy sources (RES) and energy-saving technologies in 2023.

As per the approved plan, low-capacity RES units are planned to be installed in the households of 37,000 residents this year.

In the framework of the program, for each kw/h of electricity produced by solar panels installed at facilities owned by individuals, the surplus from own consumption of which shall be transferred to the unified electric power grid, with 1,000 soums of subsidies to be allocated from the state budget.

The subsidy shall be calculated each month based on the size of the positive difference between the amount of energy transferred to the unified electric power system and the amount of energy consumed from the system.

Subsidy funds shall not be included in the total income of individuals. The subsidy shall be transferred monthly by the tax authorities through the Soliq mobile app by the 25th day of the month following the reporting month to bank plastic cards of citizens.

If the volume of electricity transferred to the unified grid exceeds the amount of energy consumed during the month from the unified system, no payment for electricity shall be made for this month to the Provincial Electric Networks company.

Electricity received by Provinceal Electric Networks free of charge shall not be deemed as income.
