President Shavkat Mirziyoyev ratified the Intergovernmental Treaty on Convicts Handover with Turkey. The ratification was passed by the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis in October 2022 and was approved by the Senate later in December.
The Treaty was signed on March 29, 2022 during the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Uzbekistan.
The Treaty was developed in accordance with the action plan to strengthen security, military and military-technical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey.
It is aimed at facilitating for foreign citizens who have committed a crime and are deprived of their liberty to serve their sentences in their country.
