Turkey received the delivery of 170 tons of humanitarian aid from Uzbekistan, which was sent by both the government and the Uzbeks themselves, the Turkish Anadolu agency reported.
The humanitarian campaign was initiated by the Future of Youth Foundation at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek-Turkish Business Association (UTİD), the Council for Foreign Economic Relations (DEIK), the Uzbek branch of the Turkish Association of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (MÜSİAD).
The humanitarian includes 45 tons of medicines and medical supplies, 8 tons of food, 90 tons of clothes, shoes, blankets, sleeping bags, baby diapers and hygiene products. Also were sent 130 generators, 700 electric heaters and other necessary items.
The aid was delivered to various regions of Turkey by 6 cargo planes and 7 trucks.
Fundraising is also ongoing.
In the regions of Turkey affected by the earthquake, Uzbek chefs are distributing two meals a day for 5,000 people.
100 rescuers and 71 doctors from Uzbekistan are working in the disaster zone, and volunteers from the Uzbek Association of Culture, Research and Solidarity in Istanbul also help.
