Pilot project to recruit Uzbek nationals to the Russian construction industry is set to be suspended. This follows from the draft resolution of the Russian government, prepared by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, RIA Novosti reported.
Pilot program was launched in October 2021 to attract labor migrants from Uzbekistan to Russian construction sites. A medical examination, testing and coronavirus test negative result were required to obtain an entry permit.
The Russian Ministry of Construction and Housing and Public Utilities said that the ministry, together with other federal executive bodies, also participated in working out the issue of suspending a pilot project to attract citizens of Uzbekistan to Russian construction sites.
“Currently, in the context of the removal of pandemic restrictions, including border crossings, the continuation of the pilot project in the design that exists is not entirely appropriate,” the press service of the Ministry of Construction reported.
In total, 4,750 citizens of Uzbekistan were hired to Russian construction sites as part of the project.
