Today, the Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov hosted the chief of the UNESCO’s representative office in Uzbekistan, Sara Noshadi.

The parties reviewed the current state and promising areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNESCO, which, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had significantly been stepped up in recent years.

“Today, Uzbekistan, as an active participant in the activities of the organization, initiated and co-organized a number of major joint events. For the first time in history, in July 2022, the Republic was elected a member of the intergovernmental committee for the protection of intangible cultural heritage for 2022-2026, a memorandum of understanding for 2022-2026 was signed, providing for further expansion of cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNESCO,” the message says.

In addition, the Khiva Process was launched at the initiative of the Uzbek authorities, aimed at developing international cooperation in the Central Asian region in the fields of competence of UNESCO.
