Uzbek Ambassador to Austria Abat Faizullaev met with the president of the Slovak Automobile Industry Association, director of external relations of Volkswagen Slovakia A. Matushek, Dunyo reported.

Reportedly, the parties weighed hiring Uzbeks the Slovak automobile industry, introducing a system of safe and legal labor migration, and comprehensive support for labor migrants.

A. Matushek noted that the Volkswagen Slovakia plant was one of the largest companies and employers in Slovakia. Today, the number of the company’s permanent employees is more than 12,000, and he underscored that about 50,000 specialists work in sub-enterprises supplying components.

The company is currently producing Volkswagen Touareg, Audi Q7, Audi Q8, Porsche Cayenne, Porsche Cayenne Coupé, Volkswagen up, Volkswagen e-up EVs and Škoda Karoq.

He highlighted that Volkswagen Slovakia wanted to increase its car production capacity in 2023 and that there was a need for 1,500 workers based on the company's new development strategy. Also, the growth trend in the country's automotive sector could provide an opportunity to hire about 10,000 additional specialists in one year.

As the first stage of practical cooperation in this field, it was agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the Slovak Automobile Industry Association and the Agency for Foreign Labor Migration under the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment of Uzbekistan.
