Trilateral working meeting was held in St. Petersburg on February 9 between the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov, the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchulakov and the CEO of the Russian company Gazprom Alexey Miller, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan reported.

The parties explored the supply of Russian natural gas to Uzbekistan through the territory of Kazakhstan, in particular, the outcomes of a provisional technical assessment conducted by the tripartite working group, the existing opportunities for gas supplies, as well as the implementation of a bilateral road map signed by the Ministry of Energy with Gazprom in January (while, the Russian company signed a road map with the government of Kazakhstan).

“As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on accelerating the next stage of trilateral studies and, based on its findings, re-organization of a trilateral meeting shortly,” the message says.

A short message from Gazprom says: "The parties meeting discussed the possibilities of trilateral cooperation in the gas industry."

After the signing of the road map, the Uzbek Ministry of Energy reported that the goal of cooperation was “supplying gas to the Uzbek market in the required volumes with full retention of ownership (full ownership of the right to manage) Uzbekistan’s existing gas transmission system.”
