One Uzbek national died in the province of Malatya as a result of the powerful earthquake in Turkey, with four people declared missing, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

Search and rescue operations are underway to establish their location.

A round-the-clock headquarters has been set up at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Ankara to provide assistance to fellow countrymen affected by the earthquake and consider their requests: +90-538-035-85-34.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reported that the rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan, sent to Turkey to help eliminate the consequences of the earthquake, began search and rescue operations in the village of Ovakent, Khatai province, where more than 10,000 ethnic Uzbeks live.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Ankara and the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul are taking measures to move Uzbek citizens from disaster areas to safe places and return them to Uzbekistan.
