Today on January 27, the Presidents of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov held talks at the Ala-Archa state residence in Bishkek, the presidential press service said.
“Kyrgyzstan is our important strategic partner, closest neighbor and time-tested friend,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said in his remarks.
He called the completion of the delineation of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border a historic event.
“We scrupulously, slowly considered each issue in all areas. And we don’t have any problematic issues,” the President of Uzbekistan stressed. “For the first time For 31 years of independence of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan we have such a high level of ties.”
He separately thanked Sadyr Japarov "for his personal support."
“Even on border issues, if not for his political will, we would not have achieved results. It would be possible, as before, we could say: “Yes, we will do it, but tomorrow or the day after tomorrow ...” But 30 years have passed since “tomorrow”, and we have not resolved these issues. Therefore, I especially want to once again express my gratitude to the President of Kyrgyzstan,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
“Kyrgyzstan attaches particular importance to the development of cooperation in a good neighborly spirit with fraternal Uzbekistan. For us, Uzbekistan is a true friend and reliable strategic partner. Traditionally, the meeting is held in an open and friendly atmosphere. There are no political differences between our countries,” Sadyr Japarov stressed in his speech.
He also recognized the completion of the delineation of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border as a historic event.
“We have demonstrated readiness for dialogue and search for mutually acceptable solutions. I am convinced that by putting an end to border issues, we will lay a solid foundation for the development of our future generations,” Sadyr Japarov emphasized.
The Kyrgyz leader highlighted the role of the President of Uzbekistan in this event.
“It is especially noteworthy that such a significant event will be secured by the exchange of instruments of ratification of the treaty within the framework of the state visit. We will also sign a declaration on a comprehensive strategic partnership ties between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, thereby bringing our relations to an unprecedented level,” Sadyr Japarov said.
Earlier in November the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan ratified the agreement on separate sections of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border and an agreement on the joint management of water resources of the Andijan (Kempir-Abad) reservoir.
