To provide electricity to the Surkhandaryo province, Uzbekistan began to import more electricity from Tajikistan, the Surkhandarya branch of Districtal Electric Networks said.

From January 18, in Shurchi, Oltinsoy, Qumqorgon and Dzharqorgon districts 70% of energy, in Bandikhon, Qiziriq and Sherobod districts 90%, in Boysun, Sariosiyo, Uzun and Denov districts 100% of energy is supplied from the Regar-500 substation from Tajikistan at 220 kV lines L-Regar-Zarchop and L-Regar-Sherobod. 

In Termiz and Dzharqorgon districts, 30%, Muzrobod, Angor and Sherobod - 10%, in Termiz city 100% of electricity - a total of 196 MW - are being provided through own resources of Uzbekistan. 

Uzbekistan has been purchasing energy from Tajikistan since April 2018. As per the agreements, imported volumes are regulated depending on demand.
