Yunusabad district criminal court sentenced to 10-year imprisonment a 47-year-old man R. Sh., who was accused of molesting a 6-year-old girl, the press secretary of the Supreme Court, Aziz Abidov said.
It was reported that the incident took place in the summer. The mother of the victim applied to law enforcement agencies, and the man was found within 24 hours after CCTVs were examined. A psychological examination revealed stress in the girl, similar to the symptoms after sexual harassment.
The trial began in October. The verdict was handed on December 22.
The man was found guilty of Preparation for a crime and attempted crime and (Forcible satisfaction of a sexual need in an unnatural form, committed against a person who is known to be under 14 years of age charges of the Criminal Code. The punishment under the last article provides for imprisonment from 15 to 20 years.
The court applied a more lenient sentence and sentenced the accused to 10 years in prison in a penal colony.
The convict may appeal and protest against the court ruling.
