From January 9, the start time of classes at 31 universities in Tashkent will change, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education said.
Reportedly ,this step was aimed at unload the metro lines. The list of universities includes both public universities and private as well as foreign universities.
In five universities, the classes will begin at 8:00 AM, in one - at 8:30 AM, in the rest - at 9:30 AM.
On December 5, when it was snowing heavily in Tashkent, the metro carried 620,000 passengers. This is 105 thousand more than on a normal day. In December 2020, on average, the metro transported 240 thousand passengers a day, in December 2021 - 400 thousand.
In June, Odil Abdurakhmanov, the former rector of the Tashkent State Transport University, proposed changing the timetable at 17 universities and nearly 90 schools, as well as the schedule for the start of work of large organizations located along the metro line. Now he is an adviser to the president on youth, science, education, health, culture and sports.
