Uzbekistan government delegation, headed by Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov, held talks with US Under Secretary of Defense Colin Kahl, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.
Reportedly, the parties exchange views on priority areas of Uzbek-American military and military-technical cooperation.
In addition, proposals were considered to intensify cooperation in the field of ensuring regional security, combating international terrorism, organized crime, illegal arms and drug trafficking.
Colin Kahl reportedly highly valued Uzbekistan’s efforts aimed at building an atmosphere of trust, partnership and good neighborliness in Central Asia, to strengthen peace and stability in the region.
The parties reiterated shared interest to prevent the escalation of the situation in Afghanistan.
They emphasized importance of continuing cooperation in the field of training units of special operations forces, combat training of troops, military education, establishing interaction between the Academy of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan and leading military educational institutions of the US Department of Defense.
