The Interim President, the Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during his trip to Surkhandarya region on October 11, said: “We need to strengthen the comprehensive cooperation with Afghanistan."

"The president of neighboring Afghanistan [Ashraf Ghani] was at our side in the darkest of our days, showing respect for our people, paying tribute to our President. Recently, the Minister of Foreign Affairs [Abdulaziz Kamilov] met with him in Brussels and discussed the issues of cooperation. We hope that in the near future a Foreign Ministry delegation will visit Afghanistan, and major agreements on cooperation enhancement will be signed. We must seek to comprehensively strengthen relations with the industrious people of Afghanistan, and to do everything possible to maintain peace," he added.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Termez Cargo Center customs terminal. The International logistics center, which has inter alia been built for the development of cooperation with Afghanistan, has a parking for 300 heavy trucks, a gas station, warehouses for containers and other cargo, access railroads and a hotel.

The Interim President expressed confidence that the logistics center will facilitate the trade with Afghanistan and enhance the export potential of not only Surkhandarya, but the whole of Uzbekistan.

"One of the main problems for companies today is to find markets. Each country is striving to promote its products abroad,"- he noted.

He added that such centers with large cold storage facilities must be built in the border regions and other regions of the country.

During the visit Shavkat Mirziyoev also visited one of the border posts, where he discussed about the measures aimed at strengthening the state border.
