On April 27, 2017 President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the foundation stone laying ceremony of Jizzakh oil refinery complex in Jizzakh’s Zafarabad district, UzA said.

The refinery complex is being designed with a crude throughput of 5 MMTPA and will have state-of-the-art refining and petrochemical units which will ensure that the maximum value is extracted from the oil to be imported from Kazakhstan and Russia.  Arrangements on this were achieved during the visits of the President to these countries. The geographic location of the complex will facilitate oil supply to all provinces of Uzbekistan and exports with minimal costs.

The estimated project cost is US$ 2.2 billion. The complex will annually produce more than 3.7 million tons of motor fuel, 700,000 tons of aviation kerosene and 300,000 tons of associated petroleum products (benzene, fuel oil, bitumen and others).

A project of such magnitude will offer employment opportunities for over 2,000 skilled labour and create over 14,000 auxiliary and services jobs. Modern transport links and social infrastructure will contribute to a major upgrade of the whole province.

The project meets international norms and standards to ensure industrial and environmental safety.
