Uzautosanoat signed a memorandum with the largest Chinese EV maker BYD on Wednesday, Azizbek Shukurov, Deputy Chairman of Uzavtosanoat in charge of economics told on his Linkedin account.
He did not however elaborate on the details of the Memo, while noting that the document was the first step towards the development of electric vehicles manufacture in Uzbekistan.
Last week, Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed Uzavtosanoat to negotiate with foreign companies by the end of 2022 and select a strategic partner to create a EVs production unit in Uzbekistan.
