The Senate on February 3 at its 23rd plenary session passed amendments to the Tax Code, providing for the extension of VAT waivers for a number of food items.
From May , 2021 until the end of the year, VAT rate was zeroed for imports of vegetable oil, sunflower and flax seeds and soybeans, as well as on the turnover for the production and (or) sale of vegetable oil (except cotton seed oil).
From October 10 to December 31, turnover on the sale of meat (beef, lamb, chicken), live animals (cattle and poultry) and products of their slaughter, potatoes and frozen fish, as well as their import into the territory of Uzbekistan, were also waived from VAT.
The amendments, which are yet to be signed by the president to take effect, extends the tax waivers until April 30, 2022.
