In 2021, Tajikistan sold more electricity abroad than in 2020, the Tajik Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma told during a press conference.
The country exported almost 2.5 billion kWh of electricity. This is more than 900 million kWh more than in 2020, he emphasized.
The main buyers were by Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. The latter paid about $55 million for more than 1 billion kWh.
In turn, Uzbekistan acquired slightly fewer resources from Tajikistan. However, the amount of electricity supplied to the country also reached 1 billion kWh. The country paid over $23 million for it.
According to the Ministry of Energy, Tajikistan has significantly increased electricity production.
In 2021, the amount of generated electricty exceeded 20 billion kWh. This is by 4.3% more than in 2020.
