It is planned to stimulate the production and use of electric cars in Uzbekistan. This goal is contained in the draft Roadmap for the Uzbekistan’s development strategy for 2022-2026 in 2022.
In particular, a system will be created to encourage the production and use of electric vehicles, thorugh:
- setting up of experimental production of electric cars and their main components and organization of production of their main components;
- waiving from payment of purchase duty for new electric vehicles manufactured in the country;
- waiving from payment of recycling duty for electric vehicles manufactured in the country.
It is also expected to ensure the implementation of standards adopted in the field of standardization and conformity assessment of the electric vehicle industry and to harmonize with international standards by automotive industry enterprises directly into their production processes.
In addition, a network of electric car charging stations will be set up. At the same time, power plants, including those using renewable energy sources, will be installed at mass gathering venues.
Also, the production of electric charging equipment and their components for electric vehicles will be launched in the country.
