A major exhibition of Uzbek products kicks off at Dushanbe’s Poytakht-90 Center today, according to Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI).

Some 160 Uzbek producers are reportedly participating in the exhibition, presenting a wide range of industrial products, including products of machine building industry, automotive, chemical, light, textile, electrical, perfume, pharmaceutical and furniture industries.

In particular, buses, trucks, cars, cable products, elevators, sanitary ware, leather products, food, building materials, transformers, electrical equipment, aluminum panels, plastic products, agricultural machinery, cellulose products, medical and sports accessories, clothing, footwear, carpets, geotextiles and blankets, household appliances, produced in accordance with international standards, are presented in the exhibition.

"The purpose of this exhibition is to strengthen trade and economic ties, attract investment, create joint ventures, increase bilateral trade," said the chairman of the Tajik Committee for Investments and State Property, Kahhorzoda Fayziddin Sattor opening the first exhibition of Uzbek goods in Dushanbe.

The Uzbek Ambassador in Dushanbe, Shoqosim Shoislomov at the ceremony said that the exhibition is a new stage of Uzbek-Tajik ties. "This is only a tiny part of what we produce in Uzbekistan and you will see that we can manufacture everything that is produced in the world, with even better quality," the Uzbek Ambassador added.

According to the Tajik Statistics Committee, the two-way trade between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in 2016 reached US$ 70 million, a 5.7 times increase to the previous year.

The exhibition, organized by Tajik and Uzbek CCIs and UzExpoCenter with the support of the Governments of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, will run through April 21.
