Uzbekistan's central bank will resume gold sales when it feels the price of the metal is peaking, the deputy chairman Behzod Khamraev told Reuters.

100 tons of gold were sold abroad in 2020. Since the end of last year, Uzbekistan has stopped its sales. Over the past decade, the least amount of gold was sold in 2012 - 10 tons, and the most in 2019 - 110 tons.

As of March 1, Uzbekistan’s gold and foreign exchange resources stand at US$ 33.2 billion.

In 2020, Uzbekistan exported US$ 15.1 billion worth of goods and services, which is 13.4% less than the same period of 2019. Gold accounted for about 44% of all exports of goods (in 2019 - 35%).
