Pyroxylin propellants is a type of gun powder. Pyroxylin propellants usually contain 91-96% pyroxylin, 1.2-5% volatiles (alcohol, ether and water), 1-1.5% stabilizer (diphenylamine) to increase storage stability, 2-6% phlegmatizer for retarding the combustion of the outer layers of powder grains, 0.2-0.3% graphite and flame retardant additives.
Such propellants are made in the form of plates, bands, rings, tubes and grains with one or more channels; used in small arms and artillery.
