The first Volkswagen dealership was inaugurated in Uzbekistan with sales of VW Caddy light commercial vehicle launched. The chairman of Uzavtosanoat, Shavkat Umurzakov in his inauguration remarks said that the project was born during the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Germany in January 2019. After that, a cooperation agreement was signed between Uzavtosanoat and Volkswagen. He recalled that at the first stage of the project, it was decided to produce a seven-seater minivan Caddy.
“The reason behind this project is that the segment of such cars was not addressed by the Uzbek automotive industry. Cars of this segment are not produced not only in Uzbekistan, but also in the CIS countries . In the near future, the level of localization will mathc that of Volkswagen quality standards,” he said.
The DG of Volkswagen Group Rus Markus Ozegovich recalled that Volkswagen Group has been represented in Uzbekistan in the MAN truck brand for many years.
“Very soon we will be heading to the next stage of our cooperation. We sell our cars in many countries around the world. However, the number of countries where we manufacture them is much less. And I am happy that Uzbekistan will join these countries this fall,” he said.
The general director of the Jizzakh Automobile Plant Oybek Ayubov said that in the coming weeks it is planned to open another dealer center in Tashkent, as well as in Jizzak and Kokand, and in the future - in all provinces of the country.
Volkswagen Caddy is equipped with a 1.6 liter four-cylinder 110 hp petrol engine. The average fuel consumption is 6-8 liters, the environmental standard is Euro-3. Volkswagen Caddy will be presented in three configurations - Cargo, Kombi and people mover Trendline.
