On July 21, Deputy PM Sardor Umurzakov held talks with the Chinese Ambassador Jiang Yan via videoconference, during which the parties touched upon bilateral cooperation in countering the pandemic, as well as a number of investment, trade and transport related issues.

The Chinese Ambassador conveyed the high interest of Chinese investors and business in the implementation of projects in Uzbekistan in the oil and gas, chemical, construction, pharmaceutical, and light industries, and commended the upward trend in cooperation with the China Development Bank, the Eximbank and the Silk Road Fund.

In this context, the parties expressed readiness to hold in the near future the first Forum of Provinces of Uzbekistan and China, the purpose of which is to establish direct ties between the provinces of Uzbekistan and China, as well as to strengthen bilateral ties between Uzbek and Chinese businesses.

The issues of cooperation in the field of transport were also discussed - in this context, the successful launch of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan train block in June this year was valued. An agreement was reached on further improving facilities for increasing the volume of multimodal transportation along this corridor, with proposals on the creation of joint ventures for consolidation, storage, processing and distribution of foreign trade cargo, including fresh fruits and vegetables and other products, were also announced and accepted for review.
