On February 26, the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev met with the Acting Minister of Transport and Head of the Afghan Railway Authority, Mohammed Yama Shams, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.
Yama Shams expressed sincere gratitude to the leadership of Uzbekistan for efforts to restore the Afghan economy, assistance in launching a peaceful political process, as well as the implementation of various economic projects in Afghanistan.
The parties discussed the current degree and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the economic, transport and communication areas.
Yama Shams, underscroing the importance of Uzbekistan’s participation in infrastructure projects in Afghanistan, emphasized the importance of the Uzbek goods deliveries to Afghanistan and expanding their range.
The parties also reportedly touched upon discussed the ways to increasing the volume of Uzbek transit cargo through the Afghan territory to third countries.
An agreement was reached on further elaboration and swift signing of bilateral documents on the procedures for cooperation and coordination between air traffic service authorities, as well as on international road traffic.
