From this year onwards, food prices in Uzbekistan will be floated, UzA said. Najmiddin Mirabdullaev, the head at a department of the Farms Council said that producers suffer from artificially lower prices.
“This year the price of cabbage is higher than usual, because exports have commenced. Therefore, people should not panic if prices rise. If we stop exports, then the farmers will suffer,” he said.
He told that last year farmers dumped onions, garlic and pepper.
“Last year farmers dumped onions, garlic and pepper. We should not block exports only to keep prices down,” said Najmiddin Mirabdullaev.
