The construction of a Russia-design nuclear plant in Uzbekistan is estimated at about US$ 11 billion and is planned to be launched in 2028, said the aide to the Russian president Yury Ushakov.

According to the Uzbek-Russian intergovernmental agreement, Uzbekistan plans to build a nuclear power plant, which will consist of two blocks of VVER-1200 generation III+ reactors with a total capacity of 2.4 GW. The project will be implemented jointly with the Russian RosAtom. 

He added that at the October 19 summit "a decision would be made to create a new mechanism for trade and economic cooperation”. “From now on, the intergovernmental commission between Uzbekistan and Russia will be headed by the prime ministers”, said Ushakov. 

Uzbekistan "is among our major economic partners". Russia's share in Uzbekistan’s foreign trade is at over 18% - somewhat behind China, and with current trend the two-way trade could reach five billion Us dollars, Ushakov said.

Among other issues to be discussed, Ushakov singled out Afghanistan, "as well as building up cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan in the framework of the SCO.
