Uzbekistan Railways completed the Electrification Of Karshi-Kitab Rail Section Project, the company said in a statement. The 124 km line was modernized and electrified, with surrounding safety metal frames installed. Also new stations were built, the existing ones were reconstructed, and another two bridges and 20 artificial structures were built.
Over 300 builders and about 100 units of construction equipment were engaged. The experts commenced technical tests in the Karshi-Kitab line, with an electric locomotive and Afrosiyob high-speed train driving along the road for the first time.
The company said it will announce the official service launch on this route thorugh its website.
The US$58.87 million Karshi-Kitab electrification project was announced in July 2017.
