Makro neighborhood stores and supermarkets chain announced it has acquired the Sunday supermarkets chain. Following the merger Makro chain will operate 40 stores in Tashkent city and the regions.
"This is the first step in an ambitious plan for Makro’s mass presence across Uzbekistan", - the company press service said. "The transition from Sunday to Makro will be carried out in stages, beginning in Tashkent, and then in the regions."
Founded in 2010, Makro chain had operated 14 stores, mainly in the capital. Initially focusing on supermarkets, the company has recently launched its neighborhood stores under Makro Express brand.
Sunday chain was founded in 2015 and operate 26 supermarkets, 13 in Tashkent city and 13 - in the regions (Ferghana Valley, Samarkand, Navoi, and other regions).
