“More foreign airlines will be flying to Uzbekistan, which will lessen the load on Uzbekistan Airways and increase the tourists’ inflow”, Frist Deputy PM Achilbay Ramatov said at the opening of the renovated terminal at Nukus airport. The Nukus airport now has the pre-flight control, with increased number of check-in counters and passenger throughput reaching 400 people per hour.
The latest steps will help tap Uzbekistan’s tourism potential. To significantly increase the number of tourists we will need at least 50 flights per day, hence we need more foreign air carriers flying to Uzbekistan, he added.
