Uzbekistan plans to launch the production of motorcycles Lifan (China) and Bajaj (India) brands. The plant for the former will be built in Namangan province, the latter in Navoi province, a source in Uzautosanoat (Uz Auto Industry, the state-owned automobile company) said.
According to the source, scooters, motorcycles and three-wheeled cargo scooters are expected to be manufactured under Lifan brand. The plant will be launched before the year 2019 in Namangan.
The JV with an Indian company is at the negotiations stage.
Earlier in December 2017, Uzautosanoat and South Korean automaker DK Group signed a deal for a JV for motorcycles and cargo scooters in Uzbekistan.
