Extension and construction of new metro lines (extension of Yunusabad and Sergelian lines, and construction of the Ring Line) is currently under way in Tashkent, Oybek Khudoikulov, deputy chairman of Uzbekistan Airways, chief of Toshkent Metro announced on February 1 at a briefing.

"Works on these projects are accelerating, not forgetting about the quality. We use modern foreign technologies, with equipment purchased in Germany, Italy, China and Serbia for these projects. And now Uzbekistan has virtually become the only country in Central Asia that has such unique and complex tools for this kind of work".

2 crawler cranes with 220 tons lifting capacity, 3 70 ton capacity telescopic truck cranes, mobile concrete plants with 20 and 40 cubic meters per hour capacity, 14 metal rolling machines, 2 super heavy cars (350 t), piling and drilling equipment have been purchased.

The US$ 170.1 million 7.1 km Sergeli line is expected to be commissioned by 2020, and will inlude six stations.

Completion of the US$124.8 million 2.93 km Yunusabad line extension project is planned by 2019.

The 52.1 km overground Ring Line including 35 stations is to be completed in 2021. The line will pass through Yashnabad, Uchtepa, Almazar, Yunusabad, Chilanzar and Sergeli districts.
