Delegation of Georgia Parliament of headed by the Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze arrived in Uzbekistan on Sunday on an official visit. Members of the Georgian delegation began their trip with a visit to the Investments Committee, Jahon reported.
The talks focused on the prospects for boosting cooperation between Uzbekistan and Georgia in the trade and economic, investment, tourism, transport and logistics area and creaation of transit corridors.
Kobakhidze especially noted that large scale fundamental reforms have been launched that in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He also stressed that the Georgia’s growing economy, in particular the positive trends in the tourism, pharmaceutics, food industries allow to establish mutually beneficial cooperation.
At the meeting, proposals were made to hold business forums and consultations of businesses with a view to strengthening bilateral trade, economic and investment ties.
Also as part of the visit, the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, the head of the Committee for Tourism Development Aziz Abdukhakimov and the mayor of Samarkand Turobjon Djuraev.
Also, Kobakhidze will hold meetings with representatives of the Georgian diaspora.
The visit will end on 23 January.
Diplomatic relations between Georgia and Uzbekistan were established on August 19, 1994. Since then, countries have cooperated in the fields of transport, energy, agriculture and pharmaceuticals.
