On November 16, 2017 at the Kazakh-Russian border  KazTransOil’s oil pipelines system accepted the first batch of Russian oil intended for further transit through the territory of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan.

Pursuant to the Framework Agreement of September 16, 2017 between the governments of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on cooperation in the energy sector, Russian oil supplies have been commenced via the KazTransOil oil pipelines system on the route Omsk-Pavlodar-Shymkent- Shagyr oil loading platform (transshipment to rail tank cars).

"The launch of transit of Russian oil to Uzbekistan is a landmark event for KazTransOil in terms of enhancing its transit potential," director general of KazTransOil Dimash Dosanov said. "From the standpoint of technical readiness, we have been ready for transportation of additional volumes of oil in this direction. Oil will be pumped through the pipeline to Shagyr oil loading platform, where it will be transshipped to rail tank cars and then transported by rail to Uzbekistan. According to supply schedules, in November the transit volume will be 30 thousand tons, and by the end of 2017, 80,000 tons.

As of November 20, 2017, KazTransOil trunk oil pipelines system accepted 20.95 thousand tons, with 13.3 thousand tons of Russian oil transshipped from Shagyr into rail tanks.
